WILD F PHILADELPHIA FROM BISCHWEILER I WITH 1751 OTESO TRIBOLET 9 September 1751 on the Patience 1 Abraham Wild (signature) wife Anna Barbara (Tribolet) daughter Maria Magdalena Wild son Abraham Wild son Christian Wild possibly stepson Isaac Renau Abraham 1 Wild was Peter Paris's second father-in-law. Like Peter, Abraham left many records in Philadelphia. These are especially notable for the additional Bischweiler families named in them. • 9 September 1751, Abraham Wild arrived on the Patience with Christian Grau andJacob Leib.rock. • 21 January 1753, Abraham Wild sponsored a child of Jacob and Magdalena Diedrich at St. Michael's and Zion Lutheran. 2 • 23 September 1753, Anna Barbara Wild(in) sponsored a child of Andreas and Anna Maria Pzrtsch at St. Michael's and Zion Lutheran.3 There was a Pzrtsch family in Bischweiler, but no record of the name or known variants in Strassburger and Hinke. • 13 June 1756, Magdalena Wilth(in) [sic], Reformed, single, sponsored a child of Ehrhard and Cathrina Lobstein at St. Michael's and Zion Lutheran. 4 • 31 October 1756, Maria Magdalena Wild(in), single, sponsored a child of Johannes and Maria Dorthea Rupurt at St. Michael's and Zion Lutheran. 5 • 17 April 1757, Abrah. Wild (Reformed) was a witness to the marriage of Heinrich Schmaus and Catharina Henrich(in) in the Evangelical Lutheran Congregation in Philadelphia. 6 • 3 June 1759, Christian Galli and Barbara Wild sponsored a child of Daniel Reiss and Anna at First Reformed.7 • 1 July 1759, Abraham Wild and Barbara sponsored a child of Andrew Oberdorf and Maria Esther. 8 Mother's names suggests she might be from Bischweiler. See introductory material in "Connections between Bischweiler, Alsace, and America in the 1700s," PGM 44:12-21, for more information on methods and sources. 1 Strassburger and Hinke, Pennsylvania German Pioneers, 1:455; 2:533; List 164C. 2 Hess and Wright, St. Michael's and Zion, German Lutheran, Philadelphia, 1 :34. 3 Hess and Wright, St. Michael's and Zion, German Lutheran, Philadelphia, 1:39Hcss and Wright, St. Michael's and Zion, German Lutheran, Philadelphia, 1;68. 5 Hess and Wright, St. Michael's and Zion, German Lutheran, Philadelphia, 1:73. 6 Don Yoder, Pennsylvania German Church Records, l :646. 7 8 78 Wright.First Reformed, Philadelphia, Wright,FirstReformed, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 1:13. 1:14. Genealogical Magazine Vol 44 (2005) Wild-Tribolet 2005 79 • 10 April 1760, Peter Paris and Abraham Wild were naturalized.9 • 4 October 1761, Abraham Wild and Anna Barbara sponsored a child of Michael Hassler and Margaret at First Reformed. IO ■ 8 March 1761, Margretha, daughter of Michael and Margretha Wild was baptized at St. Michael's and Zion Lutheran, sponsors Johann Georg Wacker and Maria Dorothea. 11 Michael has not been identified as part of Abraham Wild's family; chronologically he could fit as a child of an unknown first marriage. However, since Bischweiler records are so good, that does not seem likely. ■ 5 September 1762, Abraham Wild "of Alsace" and Catherine Gox were sponsors for a child of Christian Gally from Switzerland and Margaret Braunsman. 12 ■ 15 May 1763, Johan Georg, son of Michael and Margretha Wild was baptized at St. Michael's and Zion Lutheran, sponsors Jacob Meyer and Maria. 13 • 2 November 1765, Abraham Wild witnessed the will of Geor,fe Adam Lebold, ropemaker of Philadelphia, whose widow was Anna Barbara. 1 • 1766 will of widow Barbara Lepold left everything to her friend tobacconist Abraham Wilt, who was administrator. 15 ■ 6 August 1768, Abraham Wild sponsored a child of Georg and Magdalena Landgraf at St. Michael's and Zion Lutheran. 16 ■ 1769 tax, Mulberry Ward, Abraham Wilts junr listed with no tax; Abraham Wilts, 2 servants, taxed £38.10.10. 17 ■ 1774, Mulberry Ward, Christian Wilt listed but not taxed; Abraham Wilt, tobacc't, 1 servant, taxed £31.2.0; Abraham Wilt, merch't listed but not taxed. 18 ■ 1779, Mulberry Ward, east part, Abraham Wilt, 25 shillings; Abraham Wilt, 6 shillings. 19 ■ 9 May 1781, John Wild [sic, probably Abraham, not John] and Anna Barbara sponsored a child of Michael and Susanna Kamper. 20 ■ 14 September 1783, Abraham Wilt witnessed the will of Martin Rapp, stocking weaver of Philadelphia. 21 • 21 April 1787, Abraham Wilt, gentleman, of the City of Philadelphia wrote his will naming wife Barbara, children Abraham Junr. and Christian (sons named as executors), and grandsons Peter and John Paris, witnesses George Fleck, Isaac Roush, Christopher Baker. 22 9 "Persons Naturalized in Pennsylvania," Pennsylvania Archives, 2nd series, 2:343. 10 Wright, First Reformed, Philadelphia, 1:25. 11 Hess and Wright, St. Michael's and Zion, German Lutheran, Philadelphia, 1:151. There is no marriage or burial for him in Bischweiler, so it is possible that he is the man who cam in 1752 on the President, but since that man was accompanied by a 23 ncited data on this family unit from "Wild,· Bfschweiler Stammtafelti, 1:14. ABRAHAM 1 WILD (Andreas'\ Andreas 8 ) was baptized 13 August 1704. • He di d between 21 April (will) and 31 May 1787 (probate).3 2 He signed the oath in Philadelphia on 9 September 1751 _33 Abraham Wild citizen and woolenweaver married 1 Sbris (October] 1736 at Bischweiler G rman Reformed Anna Barbara Renau, urvjving daughter [stc) of the ]ate Isaac Renau citizen and tobacco handler.3 4 AN A BARBARA(TRIBOLET)RENAUD was the widow of Isaac Renau. She was baptized in Bischweiler 4 January 1713, the daughter of Ha~ Jacob and Anna Barbara(-?-) Tribolet. 35 Anna Barbara was still living when Abraham wrote his will in 1787. They had seven children in Bischweiler before they emigrated. At Pentecost 1750, Abraham Wild signed as a father at Bischweiler French Reformed (see "Editor's Notes: Diligence and Serendipity"). 36 The Ribelets and Tribolets were members of the Bischweiler German Reformed, so this record at the French Reformed church is unexpected. He was signing as stepfather of Isaac Renaud, son of his wife Anna Barbara by her first marriage, to Isaac Renaud. Abraham Wild's signature is an absolutely perfect match for that of the adult man arriving in Philadelphia in 1751. The signature adjacent to Abraham's on the oath list is Isaac Rene, in gothic handwriting. One might assume this was Isaac Renau, only child of Isaac and Anna Barbara, except that the signature bears no resemblance to the one by Isaac when he was a catechumen.
