At the January meeting announcement waB made of the receipt of a legacy of $1000.00 from the Estate of Thomas H. Hoge Patterson. At the May meeting attention was invited to Mrs. William M. Mer¬ vine ’s most generous offer to present to the Society the large and im¬ portant genealogical collection of her late husband, William M. Mervine, and, on motion, Mrs. Mervine was unanimously elected a life member. Subsequently she was elected a life member of the Historical Society. At the November meeting the President was authorized to appoint a committee of five members of the Society to cooperate with the main committee, or such agencies as may be delegated, to plan for the com¬ memoration of the 250th anniversary of the coming of William Penn to Pennsylvania. He appointed Mr. Charles F. Jenkins, Mr. Ogden D. Wilkinson, Hon. George Henderson, Major Henry Reed Hatfield and Hon. Ralph Beaver Strasaburger. ’ In addition to the Mervine Collection, two other important collections were received by gift during the year: The Lord Collection, in memory of the late Charles W. Lord, Jr. of Dover, Delaware, the gift of Mrs. Charles W. Lord, the compiler's mother, is replete with data relating to many widely known families of Kent County, Delaware. Mr. Lord's papers have been arranged and bound in two volumes, and are accessible to the membership. (205) Thirty-ninth Annual Report. 206 The Warren Collection is the gift of Miss Cora Warren in memory of her sister, Miss M. Ina Warren, who died May 29, 1930. It is gratifying to announce the completion of the work of assembling, arranging and binding the Gilbert Cope Collection, mainly relating to Eastern Pennsylvania and more particularly to Chester County. It com* prises ninety bound folio volumes, an outstanding mark of the genea¬ logical devotion and accomplishment of the Dean of Pennsylvania genealogists whose name is here perpetuated. This has been made pos¬ sible by the interested membership of the Society. During the year No. 1, Vol. XI of the Publications was distributed to the membership, together wth the Index of Volume X. Through the generosity of a (member, Ricardo W, Staudt, a special number, entitled “Palatine Church Visitations, 1609,“ was also issued. Sixty-five members were enrolled during the rear.
