BISHOP-HENSHALL BIBLE RECORD PHILADELPHIA contributed by Jane Benner* T his record consists of four pages that have been removed from a family Bible and are in the possession of the contributor, a great-greatgranddaughter of Robert Bishop and Nancy Henshall. No title page containing publication data remains with these pages. Born in England, Nancy Henshall arrived in the Port of New York 22 October 1833 with her mother, Fanny, and siblings James and John.1 Robert Bishop arrived at the same port 12 July 1834 with his mother, Jane, and siblings John, Isabella, and William.2 In the 1850 census, Robert and Nancy Bishop are listed with Nancy’s parents, John and Fanny Henshall, and Nancy’s siblings James, John, Fanny, William, Samuell, Harriott, and George in the Manayunk Borough, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.3 Marriages April 7th 1850 At St. Davids Church manayunk by the Rev. M. C. Lightner Mr. Robert Bishop to Miss Nancy Henshall4 William James Bishop, son of Robert and Nancy, married Joanna Bramnel May 1871. John Henshall, son of Robert and Nancy Bishop, married, Hannah C. Taylor Oct. 9th. 1877. Clara May, daughter of Robert and Nancy Bishop, married Robert Frank Lehman June 21. 1882. Mary Elizabeth, daughter of Robert and Nancy Bishop, married Wm. J. The Collegiate Church was the parish church of Manchester until 1847 when it became a cathedral and was dedicated to St. Mary, St. Denys, and St. George. It is now known as Manchester Cathedral or the Collegiate Church of St. Mary, St. Denys, and St. George.
